Four devices, one rally

We are pleased to announce that the latest compatible SpatialEMU builds extend Model 3 local-network play to SEGA Rally 2. Up to four players can now join the same race from Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, and Apple silicon Mac.

The setting has moved from closed circuits and high-speed banking to gravel, dirt, and changing levels of grip. You are not only racing toward the same finish line; you are also trying to keep a clean rhythm through bumps, slides, and narrow corners.

Local rendering, not video streaming

The players do not need to use the same kind of Apple device, and they do not all need an Apple Vision Pro. Each device runs and renders its own game locally. The network carries the original cabinet-link data rather than a gameplay video stream, following the logic of connected arcade cabinets.

SEGA Rally 2 supports up to four players in the same local-network session. That room size is also practical for a home, studio, or small in-person gathering.

From circuit racing to loose surfaces

SpatialEMU recently restored local-network play for selected Model 3 circuit racers. SEGA Rally 2 adds a very different driving problem. Stable asphalt grip can no longer be taken for granted, and every change of surface affects braking, steering, and the point at which the car begins to slide.

Even on the same stage, the choice of car, the line through a corner, and the timing of a mistake can produce a different race. That is why we continue to expand linked play: the goal is not only to support one title, but to recover the experience of friends joining the same competition from separate screens.

Before starting a room

Actual behavior can vary by device and operating-system version. When reporting a connection, disconnection, or input problem, include the device models, system versions, SpatialEMU versions, and number of players.

  • Use compatible SpatialEMU 1.41 or later builds on every device.
  • Use the same supported game revision and byte-identical game data.
  • Connect every device to the same local network.
  • Run the game locally on each participant's device.
  • Xbox and Nintendo Switch-compatible Bluetooth controllers are recommended.

Availability and platform scope

The latest compatible Apple silicon Mac build is available from the official SpatialEMU Downloads page. Compatible versions for other Apple platforms are distributed through the App Store, and feature availability depends on the version currently released for each platform. Intel Macs are not supported.

This title-specific compatibility statement currently covers Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, and Apple silicon Mac. Apple TV is not included in the SEGA Rally 2 multiplayer claim until it has separate validation.
